Special Features of YMCA Academy:
- Grade 9 and 10 credits offered at Applied levels leading to workplace and college.
- YMCA Academy is an independent secondary school operating between 9.30 a.m. to 3.45 p.m. Monday to Friday.
- Grade 11 and 12 credits focused on student's career goals, leading to Workplace, College or College Preparatory Programs in Colleges leading to University.
- Highly professional, very experienced teachers committed and dedicated to working with students who need an alternative environment for learning and success in school.
- Remediation specialist on staff working with exceptional students; gifted and mild learning disabilities.
- Cooperative education specialist on staff working with students; job shadowing, career counseling, cooperative education placements from Grade 9-12, credits leading towards OSSD and career opportunities, contacts with YMCA employment centres all across GTA.
- Information Technology and Media specialist working with students on creative, innovative project-based learning, media studies, digital photography, teleconferencing, in a laptop and wireless environment.
- Science specialist on staff working with students in modern lab facilities and focusing lessons for experiential learners.
- English specialist working with students at all levels of literacy, experienced in curriculum development with the Ministry of Education.
- YMCA volunteer mentorship program.
- Year Round membership at Metro Central, largest YMCA facility in GTA.
- Several overnight excursions to YMCA Outdoor Adventure Camps throughout school year.
- Participation in YMCA Student Youth Exchange across Canada.
